Do you think that current achievements in open-source technologies are satisfying? Or Does Linux really make huge steps in fulfilling the dream of opensource world? I don’t think so.
The opensource propaganda over proprietary softwares is that proprietary software disallow modification of it’s product by consumers while opensource label does allow the modification. However, one must have the required knowledge, skills, and infrastructure in order to actually do the modification. While these conditions are met in frontier countries, it is not always true for the developing countries. These developing countries will always be behind for some reasons.
Some people believe that the capability to use opensource technologies can help make a giant leap from developing countries to the front line. While this could be true, the possibility of doing this is far from sufficient. Their beliefs are only based on mathemathical induction from success stories of individuals or groups of people. So far, there is no complete proof of this belief and I can say that this belief is just euphoria. This euphoria is then being a pitfall of many misunderstanding and latent chaos to the economy in general.
In order to actually be the frontiers, we must focus to fix our education system so the essential support structure of this nation is occupied by intellectual and educated people. Educated predicate here is by means of psychological capacity not only in ceremonial history that has no significant impact to improve our quality of life. While morals might also be an essential basis for some religious people, this country is also a proof that being religious only is not enough without proper intellectual building by education.
